John began his career after high school with the United States Army Reserves in the 320th Military Police Company, St. Petersburg, Fl. where he served for six years with an honorable discharge. During his enlistment he ran the training platoon and opposition force training scenarios. During this time, he also began his career with the Dunedin Police Department Dunedin, Florida in 1985. During his time with Dunedin Police Department John served in such assignments such as Patrol, Special Enforcement Unit (Street Crimes), Undercover Narcotics and Marine Enforcement.

In 1995 John continued his career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. As a deputy sheriff, John served in such assignments as Patrol, Training Section, Undercover Surveillance / Street Crimes Unit, and is currently assigned to Judicial Security Operations.  John was also assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team for a total of 16 years. While assigned to the team John was able to work through the ranks and specialty areas such as Chemical Technician, Sniper, SWAT Liaison, Assistant Team leader, Team Leader and SWAT Coordinator.  John also coordinated the two-week basic SWAT school as lead instructor, along with a cadre of instructors from other SWAT teams within the Pinellas County area.

From 2004 to 2010 John was an instructor with the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force training program funded by the National Guard and administered by the St. Petersburg College. The courses taught focused on officer survival during narcotics investigations, search warrants, raids and arrests.  John has taught numerous tactical survival courses to law enforcement and military personnel in the United States, as well as outside the United States.
