Course Content
This course is designed for law enforcement and or armed officers assigned to courthouse security. During recent years violence has increased inside and outside our courthouses within the United States. Your courthouse is only as safe as the skill level and mindset of the officers who protect it. This is a one or two day mixture of classroom and practical, stair step approach to teach the student officer how to perform physically under stress, during violent encounters against citizens and employees at the courthouse as well as the officer. The officers must be well prepared mentally and physically to deal with any type of violent situation. They must be confident with their abilities having a solid working knowledge of what actions and tactics they can use to protect and secure the courthouse.
This course will provide the following realistic and practical training for the student:
- Learn to move tactically with firearm in hand during high stress encounters within the courthouse and or courtroom
- Learn how to enter a hostile courtroom during shots fired or other violent encounter
- Understand the importance of close quarter tactics to include contact shooting and how to use the technique safely
- Learn how to conduct victim escorts from the courtroom/courthouse using two to four officers
- Learn the basics of trauma care post violent encounter as well as a one and two member rescue carry
- Learn less lethal and deadly force decision making through scenario based training
- Learn the importance of the cover contact technique as well as the follow through after shooting a suspect
- Understand and learn weapon retention while at the courthouse and in the courtroom
- Have a clear working knowledge on how to strategically position them self at security check points and within the courtroom
- Understanding what is cover and concealment within their assigned area of the courthouse
